Conor McGregor Predicts $80 Million Payday for UFC 246 Bout vs. Donald Cerrone

The ordering process for Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-views has changed: UFC 246 is only available on ESPN+ in the U.S.

Conor McGregor won’t be making a “Money Fight” purse for his work at UFC 246, but if the Irishman is to be believed, he’ll be taking home quite a hefty sum.

“I’m confident it’s gonna be a nice paycheck,” McGregor said in an interview with ESPN. “Probably [the most] in my mixed martial arts career. I’m estimating a good $80 million.”

McGregor will square off against Donald Cerrone in Saturday’s headliner at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in his first Octagon appearance since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov via fourth-round submission at UFC 229 in October 2018.

McGregor claims he made approximately $50 million for his bout with Nurmagomedov, which was reportedly the highest-selling pay-per-view in UFC history. The SBG Ireland representative earned a disclosed $3 million purse for that UFC 229 fight, but that figure does not include performance-based or discretionary bonuses, nor does it factor in pay-per-view points.

McGregor revealed that he re-negotiated his contract to face Cerrone, and he expects a similar circumstance for his next Octagon appearance after UFC 246.

“Yeah, I'm happy with it. We've got a good deal. Very happy,” he said. “Very excited to see how it unfolds, right? Like I said, this is a new setup with it, but I'm confident it's gonna be a good and nice paycheck.

The “Notorious” earned in the neighborhood of $100 million for his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather — the highest payday of his career. McGregor has lofty goals for his bank account in the coming years.

“I’ll be a billionaire by the time I’m 35,” he said. “I’m still a good way away, but I’ll get there. I’ve got the methods and it’s something that excites me.” Advertisement
